Paris Conservatoire Orchestra Conducted by Constantin Silvestri
Tchaikovsky’s violin concerto is both one of the most famous and technically demanding works created for the violin – a formidable challenge for the bold and virtuosic violinist.
Although Leonid Kogan's brilliant interpretation of the violin concerto was overshadowed during the 1960's by other performances of the work (notably that of David Oistrakh), time has proved favourable and Kogan's performance is now regarded as amongst the finest ever recorded – a subtle blend of masterful technical skill combined with raw emotion.
