Rosa Amarela
Born of French parents, spending her early formative years in Brazil it comes as no surprise that Tagliaferro has a unique affinity with the piano compositions of the Spanish masters: De Falla, Granados & Albeniz.
After initially studying with her father Magda relocated to Paris at the age of 13. She entered the Paris Conservatoire to study under Alfred Cortot where she achieved the ‘Premier Prix’ just one year later. It was with Cortot that Tagliaferro realised her full potential developing a richness of tone, emotion, tenderness and melancholy which is evident in this truly inspirational 1960 performance recorded by Ducretet-Thomson.
